A substantial one-of-one pyrite specimen from the historic Climax Mine in Lake County, Colorado, near Leadville.

This piece has a bold, irregular blocky form rather than a complete pyrite cube. Broad metallic faces, stepped parallel striations, rough crystalline edges, and varied surface textures give the specimen a different appearance from every angle. Because pyrite is highly reflective, individual faces shift from pale brassy metallic to deep shadow depending on the direction of the light.

Locality: Climax Mine, Lake County, Colorado, USA

Form: Irregular blocky pyrite specimen with striated and fractured crystalline surfaces

Approximate dimensions: 2½ × 1½ × 2 in (6.4 × 3.8 × 5.1 cm)

Approximate weight: 5⅜ oz (152 g)

Measurements are approximate due to the specimen's irregular form.

This specimen has been part of my private collection for several years. Natural edges, surface variations, and areas of adhered material are part of the specimen's character. The exact specimen pictured is the specimen you will receive.

Photographed from multiple angles under consistent lighting to show the changing reflectivity of the metallic surfaces.
